Tabletops for the Lagun table frame – concrete, spruce and oak, 500x700 mm

Our tabletops (dimensions 500 x 700 mm, weight <3 kg) are available in a range of finishes, so you can order a tabletop to go with your new Lagun table frame and use your table as soon as it arrives. We developed our tabletops over many years in close collaboration with our customers. Their core is made from poplar plywood. Why? Because poplar is exceptionally light while also being robust and stable.

Initially, we used solid oak almost exclusively because appearance was an important consideration for us. In practice, however, oak proved to be rather bulky and heavy. Practicality came first, so we decided to switch to a different type of wood. The Lagun system is regularly assembled and dismantled in everyday use, making a heavy solid-oak tabletop impractical. Poplar and spruce are considerably lighter at the same size. The result is not only eye-catching but also a practical long-term solution.

That is why we worked with our customers to select coated surfaces for the tabletops. The coating is much more durable, has an attractive grain and gives the camper van interior a refined, welcoming feel. It also allows us to offer a wider choice of finishes, including a concrete effect.

For two reasons: practicality and price. White reflects light, while dark colours absorb a great deal of it. The latter is impractical in a camper van. A white underside allows the tabletop to bring more light and a greater sense of space to your home on wheels. We also want to keep the price in focus. Coating the panel on both sides would make it considerably more expensive. Our tabletops are intended to remain affordable.
